Stolen dog home safe, found tied to post

-

Kobe, a Pomeranian-Shih Tzu crossbreed stolen from outside a McDonald’s last week, has been reunited with his owner, Toronto police said Sunday morning.

The dog was found tied to a post near Sherbourne and Selby Sts. at 6:48 a.m. Sunday, said a Toronto police spokesperson, Craig Brister.

Kobe’s owner reports that the dog is in “good spirits and healthy,” Brister said, and that he was found unharmed.

“Kobe just returned home and is safe and sound!” read a message on the Facebook page created to find him.

At about 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Kobe had been tethered to a bench outside the McDonald’s on Bloor St. E. and Sherbourne St.

Security footage that was later released by police shows a man approaching the tied-up dog and leading him away.

Police said Sunday that they had not yet identified the suspect.
