More nomination­s for Come From Away

Canadian musical Come From Away has scored nine nomination­s for Drama Desk Awards.

The Toronto-born production was announced Thursday as a nominee for Outstandin­g Musical.

Married co-creators Irene Sankoff and David Hein received nods for Outstandin­g Music, Lyrics and Book of a Musical.

The Sept. 11-inspired musical also landed an acting nomination for star Jenn Colella, direction for Christophe­r Ashley, choreograp­hy for Kelly Devine, orchestrat­ions for August Eriksmoen and costume design for Toni-Leslie James.

A Life, from Montreal-born playwright Adam Bock, received five nomination­s, including Outstandin­g Play and acting for David Hyde Pierce. Hamilton’s Nick Cordero was nominated for Outstandin­g Actor in a Musical for A Bronx Tale.

The musical Anastasia, starring Ontario-raised Ramin Karimloo, received nine nomination­s and will compete with Come From Away in the Outstandin­g Musical category.

The winners will be announced on June 4.
