Re Rainfall breaks record set in 1953, May 25 I read with interest reporter Emily Fearon’s discussion with climatologist Dave Phillips about the so-called record daily rainfall on May 25. I know Phillips is old enough to remember Hurricane Hazel in 1954, which dumped more than twice that amount of rainfall in just three hours. Recent rainfall pales in comparison to what fell that dreadful day. John N. Anderson, Thornton, Ont.
