Downton Abbey film said to be in works

-

A Downton Abbey movie is in the works, with production likely to begin in 2018, an NBCUniversal exec- utive said Wednesday.

Michael Edelstein, president of NBCUniversal International Studios, said the hope is to assemble 20 cast members from the popular TV series that ended in 2015.

Edelstein was in Singapore for Downton Abbey: The Exhibition, which features costumes and neverbefore-seen footage from the period drama. It’s also expected to travel to the U.S. and Australia.

“We are working on getting the script right and then we’ve got to figure out how to get the (cast) together,” Edelstein said.

It was news to cast members at the exhibit, including Sophie McShera (Daisy) and Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith), but series creator Julian Fellowes said, “I think we’ve got a film in us. I hope it happens.”
