FUNNIEST MOMENT

One afternoon, Mark Maw, who drove the support vehicle through Brazil, was waiting for me to arrive in the middle of nowhere when a man walked up to the van with a large machete. Mark did not understand much Portuguese and the man did not speak English. After some hand signals, Mark understood the Brazilian wanted him to “come with.” In a dense forest, the man ordered Mark to sit down while he walked behind a tree. Mark, frightened that he was to be decapitated, nervously planned his escape. The man returned — with a peeled orange and a smile.
