Splashy final dive wins Aussie gold
BUDAPEST, HUNGARY— Maddison Keeney of Australia produced a brilliant final dive to beat Russia’s Nadezhda Bazhina to the women’s one-metre springboard title at the world aquatics championships on Saturday. Bazhina had taken over the lead from Keeney going into the final round but the 21-year-old Australian finished with a flourish for a total of 314.95 points, beating the Russian by 10.25. Earlier, Ren Qian and Lian Junjie won the mixed 10-meter synchronized diving title for China.
