Afterglow (a dog memoir), Eileen Myles
Despite the title, a dog didn’t write After
glow and it isn’t a memoir. It’s 20 essays by poet Myles, mostly about Rosie, a pit bull who “was the mainstay of my liturgy” for almost 17 years. It is a discursive collection: In “The Puppets Talk Show,” Rosie is interviewed about her dogginess. In “Goodnight, Sweet Queen,” Myles itemizes Rosie’s belongings after her death.
