BRUCE ARTHUR’S NFL PICKS

-

THE PICKS New England (-6) at New Orleans

The Jemele Hill fiasco — the ESPN anchor (defensibly) called the President a white supremacist on Twitter, ESPN chastised her, the White House (indefensibly) called for her firing — proved again that, right now in America, you have to pick a side.

Pick: New England Cleveland (+8) at Baltimore

In this game, Browns tackle Joe Thomas will play his 10,000th straight snap: every snap since he was drafted in 2007. He’s a great player who has been stuck on a ter- rible team, and kept playing no matter what. He is awesome, and it’s sort of beautifully sad.

Pick: Cleveland Arizona (-7) at Indianapolis

Is it possible most NFL QBs — 17 of whom recorded week one QB ratings below 90, and a combined rating of 68.9, and two of whom have already been benched — are secretly sympathizing with Colin Kaepernick, and being terrible on his behalf? Probably not, no.

Pick: Arizona THE REST

A look a the remaining weekend games: Selections are in bold. Chicago (+7) at Tampa Bay Philadelphia (+5.5) at Kansas City Minnesota (+6) at Pittsburgh Buffalo (+7.5) at Carolina Tennessee (+2) at Jacksonville Miami (+4) at L.A. Chargers N.Y. Jets (+13.5) at Oakland San Francisco (+14) at Seattle Washington (+2.5) at L.A. Rams Dallas (-2) at Denver Green Bay (+3) at Atlanta Detroit (+3) at N.Y. Giants
