Arena not the place to debate politics

Re NFL chooses sides in divisive world of Trump, Arthur, Sept. 25 The Pittsburgh Penguins got it right: “any agreement or disagreement with a president’s politics, policies or agenda can be expressed in other ways.”

Athletes who choose to bring politics onto the playing field share in the divisiveness of such action and should be held accountable. Regrettably, they have marred one of the few “stages” left that can bring people together in a shared culture. If they had thought this through, I’m sure they would have concluded that the “arena” is not the place to debate politics. Donald Cangiano, Oakville
