Mirvish Production­s’ upcoming season features melodic options such as Motown: The Musical,

There’ll be a host of familiar tunes in Mirvish Production­s’ upcoming 2017/18 season, with the return of such classics as Phantom of the Opera and The King and I and the return of a beloved new show, Come From Away, featuring an all-new Canadian cast.

“There’s a mix of familiar stuff and new stuff . . . the best of what’s available out there, both homegrown and internatio­nal,” said spokespers­on John Karastamat­is.

The subscripti­on series features seven shows, including:

North by Northwest, a theatrical version of the Hitchcock classic, which opened Sept. 19 and continues until Oct. 29 at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.

The National Theatre of Great Britain production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, based on the Mark Haddon book, at the Princess of Wales Theatre from Oct. 10 to Nov. 19.

The North American premiere of stage adaptation of the Dr. Seuss classic The Lorax, produced by the U.K.’s Old Vic theatre company, from Dec. 10 to Jan. 21 at the Royal Alex.

Come From Away, by Tony-nominated Canadians Irene Sankoff and David Hein, with an open-ended Royal Alex run starting Feb. 13.

An American in Paris, featuring former National Ballet of Canada principal dancer McGee Maddox, at the Princess of Wales from March 27 to April 29.

Annie, celebratin­g its 40th anniversar­y, plays at the Ed Mirvish Theatre from April 3 to May 6. The show is a substituti­on for Muriel’s Wedding, which is unable to tour due to high demand in Australia, but is likely to premiere in the 2018/19 season.

The King and I at the Princess of Wales from July 10 to Aug. 12.

The Off-Mirvish Season features three shows, all at the Panasonic Theatre:

Salt-Water Moon, the much-loved romance set in 1920s Newfoundla­nd, from Oct. 12 to 29. King Charles III, a Studio 180 Production about the future king of England, from Feb. 10 to March 4. Fun Home, the 2015 Tony Award winner of best musical, based on the graphic novel by Alison Bechdel. Featuring a cast including Cynthia Dale and Matilda star Hannah Levinson, the show runs from April 13 to May 6.

There are also eight “bonus” shows, including:

The North American premiere of Bat Out of Hell: The Musical by Jim Steinman, from Oct. 14 to Dec. 24 at the Ed Mirvish Theatre.

Are turn engagement of Disgraced, from Nov. 11 to 26 at the Panasonic.

Elf: The Musical, co-written by Tony Award winner ( The Drowsy Chaperone) Bob Martin, from Nov. 21 to 26 at the Princess of Wales.

The return of The Illusionis­ts: Live from Broadway, featuring Winnipeg native Darcy Oake, from Dec. 12 to Jan. 14 at the Princess of Wales.

Million Dollar Quartet, featuring an imaginary jam session with Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash, from Dec. 12 to Jan. 7 at the Panasonic.

Rain — A Tribute to the Beatles will celebrate the 50th anniversar­y of the Fab Four’s iconic Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album, from March12 to18 at the Princess of Wales.

Gobsmacked!, the Canadian premiere of the a cappella/beatbox musical from the U.K., from March 14 to 25 at the Panasonic.

Motown: The Musical, about the life of legendary music producer Berry Gordy, from May 22 to June 3 at the Princess of Wales.

Phantom of the Opera, an acclaimed new production by legendary producer Cameron Macintosh, from June 7 to 30 at the Princess of Wales.
