Unconscionable tactics by drug companies
Re Outdated branding of opioid raises concerns,
Oct. 23 Kudos to Star reporter Jesse McLean for exposing the concerning tactics of those companies that sell opioid drugs in a manner that aids and abets the habits of unfortunate victims of opioid addiction. It is unconscionable that some companies are using every tactic to increase sales of their opioid products by resorting to outdated tablet markings, as well as providing huge illegal rebates to pharmacies.
Another article (Provinces consider drug database to track opioids, Oct. 20) alerts us about the welcome fact that Canada’s health ministers are coming together to fight the rapidly growing multi-faceted crisis of opioid addiction by instituting an electronic prescription database. It is time that we, the citizens of Canada, now lend our voices in support of the provincial health ministers who are working together to stem the opioid crisis that kills many thousands.
