GLAMPING OUT
Newly opened resort near Grafton, Ont., takes luxury camping to the next level,
COMMUNAL CAMPFIRE
The Watering Hole lodge overlooks the sparkling waters of natural spring-fed ponds, a small outdoor saltwater pool, hot tub and scenic campfire area. After a refreshing dip in the pool or soothing soak in the hot tub, guests are encouraged to sit around the fire on cosy Muskoka chairs or nearby hammocks to exchange stories and sing songs while indulging in gourmet s’mores.
OUTDOOR RELAXATION
A holistic nutritionist and yoga instructor offers guests outdoor yoga sessions, private health consultations and Thai or Lomi Lomi massages. Campers can also enjoy peaceful moments on one of the many hiking trails, outdoor gazebos and sitting areas. Luxury tents are available for $295 per night until Oct. 22. Reservations are open for the 2018 season, which runs from May to October.
BREAKFAST BASKETS
There’s no need to bring a bulky camp stove or cooler filled with bland sandwiches or boring snacks. Founder Nancy prepares delicious breakfasts and ready-to-barbecue meals that guests can make and enjoy on their private decks. As the former innkeeper of Ste. Anne’s Country Inn and Spa, she puts together fresh and healthy meals delivered right to your tent in an adorable wicker basket.
A FAMILY AFFAIR
Meet fellow glampers and the founders, John and Nancy Corcoran, at the Watering Hole — a pavilion with a bar and breakfast area. The Corcorans and their children each have a hand in the retreat’s operations, from bartending to housekeeping.
GLAMOROUS TENTS
Forget pitching your own tent. At Whispering Springs, glampers enjoy the outdoors in the comfort of spacious log-framed tents equipped with heating, washrooms and private decks. The tents feature the amenities of a boutique hotel such as linens and mini fridges.
