Presto card works perfectly for most GO Transit riders

Re Any room for cruelty in rules is too much,

Keenan, Nov. 28 Edward Keenan’s column is perfectly reasonable except for his discussion about the Presto system. The problem the teen had was nothing to do with the Presto system and everything to do with the driver of the GO bus.

I have used the Presto card since it started and it has worked just about perfectly.

And when I have had a problem, there was no difficulty sorting it out.

The card is fantastic in the way I can use it on Oakville Transit to catch the GO train into Toronto and then, when arriving at Union Station, go straight to the subway, all using the same card.

I don’t have to carry the exact change for Oakville transit and I don’t have to carry a bunch of subway tokens. I am a senior and my card knows that, so it automatically takes off the senior fare without me having to worry about it. The automatic reload works every time.

Keenan’s suggestion that Presto is a bad, no good, terrible fare system is totally wrong.

The thousands of people who ride the GO system every day would disagree with him. William Mercer, Oakville
