Retweets are shameful, classic Trump
Re Trump’s ongoing attempt to demonize Muslims, Nov. 30 With all the divisive comments and anti-Muslim retweets from U.S. President Donald Trump, he can now assume his true title: Divider in Chief.
A Divider in Chief that now seems to play from the exact divideand-conquer playbook as Vladimir Putin and the FSB, exposed during and after the 2016 presidential election.
Trump first divided up the “conspiracy theorists” from the rest of the pack with his supporting then leading the “Birther Movement.” He then parceled out Republicans that disliked Obamacare. He then convinced the disenchanted that America wasn’t so great anymore chanted relentlessly that he, and only he, could make it great again. Then he found a new segment to part from the crowd with nationalistic rhetoric.
After dividing and conquering his way to the presidency, little has changed. However, now that Trump’s divide-and-conquer strategy has been exposed, we know what to look for when we hear the dog whistles that continue to try to divide and conquer Americans. Steven Manganello, Toronto
I wasn’t surprised to see U.S. President Donald Trump retweeting anti-Muslim, hate-filled propaganda.
But what astonished me was the British government’s statement that the planned state visit was intact. This shows a lack of courage and shame.
In doing so, British Prime Minister Theresa May has demonstrated that she doesn’t care about the peaceful and law-abiding Muslim citizens who contribute a lot to society.
While on the surface she has shown a different picture, her actions show she shares the same sentiment as Trump.
Otherwise, she would have shown some respect toward Muslims and shut the door on the bigot’s face. Abubakar N. Kasim, Toronto
