It takes two to Dancer’s Pose

Recently restored to its former glory, the Omni King Edward Hotel’s Crystal Ballroom is a fairy tale backdrop for this dance-themed segment of Yoga Moves.

I’m here with my yoga friend, Kiko, to show you an accessible, partnered version of Dancer’s Pose that will convince you that everyone has a place on the dance floor.

Stand side-by-side with your friend and have her place an arm around your shoulder.

Ask your friend to lift the foot that’s closest to you by bending her knee. Soften your own knees and be ready to reach back to catch the lifted ankle with your inner hand.

Stand tall and work together to maintain your balance as you both lift your outer arms with palms facing towards each other.

Remind your friend to engage her core, as if wearing a muscular cummerbund, and gracefully reach her foot backward against your steady support. Let that action lift both your hearts.

Stay for up to five synchroniz­ed breaths before changing sides.
