Soulpepper family a dysfunctional one

-

Re Soulpepper cancels production in wake of sex abuse allegations, Jan. 7

As Soulpepper supporters of the company from Day 1, we feel very distressed, disturbed and betrayed.

We loved the theatre, and we loved what Albert Schultz did for the company and for us.

For almost 20 years, they made us believe that a real Soulpepper family existed, and not a dysfunctional one, as it appears after the statement signed by 33 artists.

Schultz is a maverick and we feel that the very harsh tone of the letter for what they say is still “alleged conduct” does not do justice to all the great things that this artist did for decades.

The letter sent to the subscribers was more than disturbing. It looks like Soulpepper cannot make the show go on, as we thought great companies always do.

The cancellation of Amadeus is deeply sad because frankly, we cannot see a light at the end of their tunnel. S. Oprea, Toronto
