Blaze in Brighton home claims two lives

- ANNIE ARNONE STAFF REPORTER

Two people died following a house fire in Brighton, Ont., according to Ontario Provincial Police.

Const. Steve Bates said that at about 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, firefighters were called to a house on Harbour St. in Brighton — about an hour east of Toronto — where they discovered two bodies in a house “filled with smoke.”

Police have not specified the cause of the incident.

“The fire marshal has been notified,” added Bates, who will conduct an investigation regarding the source of the fire.

Police believe the two deceased were the only residents of the home, but that could change following further investigation, said Bates.

Police are not releasing the identities of the two.
