Giant Yonge St. sinkhole big enough to swallow a car

- NORTH YORK MIRROR

A sinkhole large enough to swallow a car shut down two lanes of traffic on Yonge St., just north of York Mills Rd., on Wednesday.

The sinkhole appeared in the morning at William Carson Cres., just south of Hwy. 401.

While its cause is unknown, city workers speculate it may have happened by a water main break during the recent deep freeze creating a pool of water causing the street to cave in.
