A timeline of events in the Patrick Brown saga, which began Jan. 24 when CTV reported sexual misconduct allegations against him,
Jan. 24
5 p.m.: Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown gets word that CTV is going to air a story detailing sexual misconduct allegations against him.
9:45 p.m.: Brown holds a hastily called, emotional news conference.
10 p.m.: The CTV story features two young women alleging sexual impropriety by Brown when he was a federal member of Parliament. Brown’s chief of staff, campaign manager, advertising guru and press secretary resign en masse. Jan. 25
1:25 a.m.: Brown announces he has resigned as party leader. Jan. 26
12 p.m.: Vic Fedeli is named interim leader by the PC party caucus.
5 p.m.: Party launches leadership contest to replace Brown. Jan. 28
“Bloody Sunday:” Party president Rick Dykstra resigns amid allegations of sexual assault; Fedeli parts ways with PC executive director Bob Stanley, amid other staff changes at Queen’s Park and party HQ. Jan. 30
Fedeli vows to “root out any rot” in the party, including suspect membership lists, hacked computer systems and questionable spending by the party executive under Brown. Jan. 31
PC party executive releases details of leadership contest rules. Feb. 10
Brown breaks his silence, countering the allegations in an interview with Postmedia. Thursday
Brown says he plans to sue CTV. Friday
11:20 a.m.: Fedeli announces Brown has been kicked out of the PC caucus, “effective immediately.”
3 p.m.: Brown arrives at PC headquarters to fill out paperwork to enter the party leadership race.
5 p.m.: Brown emerges and says he is running after receiving encouragement from supporters, and that he believes he has cleared his name.
5:45 p.m.: Party president Jag Badwal releases a statement saying “Mr. Brown’s application will follow the same due process in the same manner as the other four declared candidates.”
