We have a long history with Korean winter

Re Buses bad, weather worse at these Games, DiManno, Feb. 15

Rosie DiManno and our athletes are not the first band of Canadians to experience the rigours of Korea in February.

The Second Battalion of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry suffered the same frigid Arctic winds as they ascended the Korean peninsula in the winter of 1950-51 from their starting point near Pusan in southeast South Korea.

The story is well told by Pte. Michael Czuboka (Ret.) in Everyday Heroes: Inspirational Stories from Men and Women in the Canadian Armed Forces, edited by Jody Mitic and published in 2017. Malcolm Davidson, Toronto
