WHAT’S OPEN AND CLOSED IN TORONTO ON FAMILY DAY
If you are looking for activities for Family Day, here’s a list of what’s open and closed, plus some special events. Open
Civic buildings including City Hall, Metro Hall and the civic centres will operate on a weekend schedule from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Most tourist attractions including the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Royal Ontario Museum, the CN Tower, the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Toronto Zoo and the High Park Zoo.
Skating rinks, ski parks and snowboard centres (weather permitting), indoor pools.
Malls including the Eaton Centre, Vaughan Mills and Square One Shopping Centre. Movie theatres. Canada Post offices — not including those inside private businesses — will be open, and mail will be collected and delivered as usual. Closed
City administrative offices and service counters. Schools, public libraries and banks. LCBOs and Beer Stores. Malls including Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Fairview Mall, Sherway Gardens and Scarborough Town Centre. Transit
The TTC will operate on a holiday schedule with the subway service beginning at 6 a.m.
GO Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule and is also offering free rides to kids under 12. Activities
If you have been inspired by the Canadian Olympic ice skaters, there will be freestyle ice-skating demonstrations by Toronto Ice Skate Group at Nathan Phillips Square.
The city is also encouraging people to visit sites including Colborne Lodge, Fort York National Historic Site and several city museums, where activities will be offered for the whole family.
The annual Family Fun Fest at Downsview Park runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It features an indoor amusement park with 30 attractions including rides, jumping castles, arcades games and more.
Kid Fest Toronto at the International Centre, Hall 6, in Mississauga offers inflatable rides and attractions.
The show is also offering interactive activities, carnival games, and science experiments for kids. It runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Canadian International AutoShow will showcase 125 exhibitors and more than 1,000 cars, concepts and trucks on display.
The show is running at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre until Sunday.
