Why subsidize electric cars?

Re Ontario wrestles electric-car title from Quebec, Feb. 21 Why are Ontario taxpayers subsidizing high-end car buyers for up to $14,000 when other Ontarians are hard-pressed to buy any kind of a much cheaper vehicle? If they can afford an electric car, they can surely pick up the extra costs involved.

With our hospitals and social services underfunded, surely this subsidy money could be put to the benefit of all taxpayers, not just a privileged few. Sam Markou, Mississauga
