Celebrities fight Weinstein Co. bankruptcy

-

A litany of A-listers wants to make sure they get their money before the Weinstein Company goes under.

Hollywood’s finest, including Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Leonardo DiCaprio, have all filed paperwork in an attempt to ensure they receive their royalty checks, according to the Blast.

Jennifer Lawrence claims she’s still owed more than $102,000 (U.S.) for Silver Linings Playbook, while Meryl Streep says she’s waiting on paycheques for both August: Osage County and The Giver, according to Deadline.

The Weinstein Company filed for bankruptcy in March after months of collapsed sales.

The waiting parties also claim they aren’t even sure how much they’re owed because Weinstein Company accountants failed to provide accurate information. In late March, the company released a 394-page document listing all of the people and companies who are still owed money, including Malia Obama, Alexis Bledel, Robert De Niro, John Legend and Jerry Seinfeld.

The production company remains in limbo six months after more than 100 women accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment and assault.

The Hollywood Reporter reported claims by Quentin Tarantino that he is owed $300,000 for Grindhouse, $575,000 for Inglourious Basterds, $1.25 million for Django Unchained and nearly $2.5 million for Hateful Eight. The same publication said that Canada’s Rachel McAdams is seeking money for the 2015 movie Southpaw.
