Halton police were called around 10 a.m. for reports of a vehicle driving “erratically,” Staff Sgt. Gerard Kelly said.

The vehicle left the roadway and struck a 19-year-old man walking on the sidewalk. Kelly said one of the man’s legs was amputated below the knee.

The vehicle came to a stop when it collided with a restaurant’s patio. Kelly said the 73year-old driver of the vehicle was rushed to a Hamilton hospital with a head injury.
