Ingersoll OPP officer arrested in corruption probe

12 arrests and counting for ongoing investigat­ion

An Ontario Provincial Police constable has been arrested in an ongoing probe into corrupt practices that has already netted arrests against three GTA officers and a provincial prosecutor.

Const. Nancy St-Gelais, 44, who works in the Ingersoll OPP detachment, was charged on Thursday with using police database to conduct unlawful inquiries, York Regional Police said on Friday.

She was released and is due to appear in court on Nov. 23.

The investigat­ion, which has already netted 12 arrests, is ongoing, York Regional Police Const. Andy Pattenden said in a prepared statement.

Earlier this week, a York Re- gional Police officer and another officer from the Toronto Police Service were granted bail in the sweeping investigat­ion, which includes steroid and drug charges.

Const. Richard Senior, 44, of York Regional Police was charged with 30 criminal offences earlier this month, including traffickin­g cocaine, attempted armed robbery of a quantity of cocaine, assault, obstructin­g justice and weapons charges. He was also charged with the theft and illegal possession of a York Regional Police shotgun, interferin­g in the prosecutio­n of provincial offence notices under the Highway Traffic Act and the disclosing of confidenti­al police informatio­n.

Toronto Police Const. Bryan Correia was also released on bail earlier this weekafter being charged with criminal counseling and breach of trust.

Const. Timur Timerbulat­ov, 36, who joined York Regional Police in 2015, was charged with breach of trust and unauthoriz­ed use of a computer not for a police purpose from the same investigat­ion.

Also charged last week in the same investigat­ion was provincial offences prosecutor Catherine Petrolo, 36.

She faces charges of obstructio­n of justice and breach of trust by a public officer.
