Pollsters should only question the informed
I have to wonder about this polling, and about polling in general. Do the pollsters ask any preliminary questions, like, “Have you been following the issue of carbon pricing, and do you know how cap and trade or carbon taxes work?” Only after a yes to such a question should the pollster continue with the question of approval or opposition to the current federal plan. Surely a clear majority of respondents who follow climate change, Ontario’s capand-trade program cancellation and the federal plan would have expressed approval.
I agree there are some well informed Canadians who are opposed, but I think the truly informed results would be quite different. Susan Bracken, Toronto
