Grande debuts new song on SNL

Ariana Grande’s new single “Thank U, Next” arrived Saturday night — perfectly timed to the evening’s episode of Saturday Night Live, which featured her ex-fiancé Pete Davidson. Davidson is one of the many exes Grande references in the song’s opening lines, along with Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez and Mac Miller: “Thought I’d end up with Sean but he wasn’t a match / Wrote some songs about Ricky now I listen and laugh / Even almost got mar- ried and for Pete, I’m so thankful / Wish I could say, “Thank you” to Malcolm ‘cause he was an angel.” Davidson addressed the breakup during a segment on “Weekend Update,” in which he praised his ex and asked viewers to respect their privacy. “She’s a wonderful, strong person and I wish her all the happiness in the world.”
