Re Reading an old novel in new ways is the opposite of a book ban, Nov. 1 Further to Morgan Campbell’s take on To Kill A Mockingbird ... I would suggest that a more appropriate and relevant “antioppression lens” would be to read this novel from the perspective of our Indigenous peoples in Canada, perhaps along with a comparable literary work by thoughtful Aboriginal authors such as Tanya Talaga’s
Seven Fallen Feathers. To compare and contrast the racism of the Deep South with the insidious experiences of Indigenous peoples right here in Canada would be far more educational. Monika Strak, Stouffville
