Who will buckle kids into seatbelts on bus?

Re All parties should support installing seatbelts on school buses, Editorial, Nov. 29

As a driver of 300 students per day, I am against seatbelts. Who is responsible for buckling the kids in safely, and for ensuring weight and height guidelines are met? Who pays the extra time each run will take?

A bus can take as little as two minutes to go up in flames in the event of a fire. If a driver has to unbuckle 72 kids, who are scared and panicked, and organize the evacuation to a safe distance, they would have to decide who to save first. Ian K. Plunkett, Ottawa
