McCarthy fired after loss to Cards

The Packers fired Mike McCarthy after 13 seasons and installed offensive co-ordinator Joe Philbin as interim head coach after a 20-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Green Bay, now 4-7-1, won the Super Bowl under McCarthy in the 2010 season but has struggled for three seasons. In 2016, they started 4-6, then won eight straight to get to the NFC title game, losing to the Falcons. They finished 7-9 and missed the playoffs in 2017, when Aaron Rodgers missed extensive time with a broken collarbone.
