Deputy tapped as interim police chief

Peel Region police has an interim chief effective Jan. 12, as the search for a replacement for retiring Chief Jennifer Evans continues.

The Peel Police Services Board announced Thursday that Deputy Chief Chris McCord has been appointed interim police chief, to fill in until a replacement has been chosen. McCord has been a Peel police officer for almost 40 years — and has been one of the service’s deputy chiefs since 2012.
