A Jan. 14 column about the habitat of the piping plover, an endangered bird, mistakenly said the Town of South Bruce Peninsula failed to appear in court on November 2018 to face two charges under the Endangered Species Act. In fact, the town had met previously with the Crown to set Feb. 13 as the pre-trial date.

A 40-year-old male pedestrian died in hospital after he was hit by a dump truck at the intersecti­on of Marlee and Lawrence Aves. on Jan. 16. A Jan. 17 photo caption mistakenly said a cyclist was killed.

Richard Holy is manager of planning for the City of Kawar- tha Lakes. A Jan. 16 article about Ontario’s growth plan misspelled his surname.

A Colombian drug trafficker testified that former Mexican president Enrique Pena Nieto allegedly took a bribe of $100 million (U.S.) from Mexican cartel leader Joaquin (El Chapo) Guzman. A photo caption accompanyi­ng a Jan. 16 Associated Press article about the El Chapo trial misstated the amount of the alleged bribe.

According to the 2016 census, the population of Uxbridge is 21,176 and its geographic size is 420 sq. km. A Jan. 16 chart about the Ontario provincial government’s regional govern- ment review misstated the population and geographic size of Uxbridge.

Maggie MacIntyre is the third wife of former Alberta MLA Don MacIntyre. A Jan. 14 column about the victim who was abused by Don MacIntyre misstated her given name.

Automotive manufactur­er Toyota began as a loom manufactur­ing company and expanded into automobile production. A Jan.17 column about the benefits of the government of Canada purchasing General Motors’ Oshawa plant mistakenly said the company began as a bicycle manufactur­er.
