A pedestrian was struck twice in a chaotic multi-vehicle hitand-run in Scarborough on Monday night that ended in a police cruiser being “T-boned,” Toronto police said.

A 49-year-old man was walking westbound across Warden Ave. at Glen Springs Dr. when he was struck in the intersection just after 7 p.m., police said in a release. An unknown driver of a Honda Civic, driving northbound on Warden Ave., struck the man. The driver immediately fled the scene.

The pedestrian was “thrown up into the air” striking a Toyota Rav 4 that had stopped in the southbound lane, according to police. The 60-year-old driver remained on scene.

The second impact caused the pedestrian to land in a northbound lane on Warden Ave. when an unknown driver in a Toyota Camry struck the pedestrian and immediately fled. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have located the Honda Civic, but are still searching for the Toyota Camry, police said.

Shortly after, two police officers responding to the incident were “T-boned” by another driver, Toronto police spokesperson Katrina Arrogante said. The driver of the vehicle was in her late teens and was “very combative with police,” she said, adding that the woman resisted arrested and had to be Tasered.

The driver was investigated for possible impairment and now faces nine charges.
