Y&R plans to work legacy of St. John into a storyline

The Young and the Restless shared a short video tribute to longtime star Kristoff St. John days after his sudden death — and promised there’s more to come.

The CBS soap opera aired a roughly minute-long clip at the end of Friday’s episode that showed St. John reflecting on his lengthy tenure on the series.

“It feels like a real accomplishment,” St. John says in the video. “I’ve been a part of something that will, somehow, be in a time capsule up there. And I’m part of that? Yeah. I’m one of the brothers on The Young and the Restless. I’m one of the sons. I’m one of the family members. I was there. Yeah, man. Neil Winters was an integral part.”

A montage featuring some of his scenes on the show then began to play, before the screen cut to a message reading, “In loving memory of our dear friend Kristoff St. John.”

St. John was found dead at his Wood- land Hills, Calif., home on Sunday at the age of 52. A cause of death has not been released.

St. John joined The Young and the Restless in 1991. He won 10 NAACP Image Awards over his career and also earned a pair of daytime Emmys.

The soap opera confirmed that a further tribute to the star will take place in the spring.

“The Young and the Restless will forever value the legacy of Kristoff St. John in his portrayal of Neil Winters,” reads a tweet shared Friday to the show’s account. “Beginning in late April, Y&R will feature a storyline that pays tribute to both Kristoff and his character.”
