Climate coverage should be free for all to read
Newspapers like the Toronto Star play a critical role in addressing climate change by providing “bold journalism that helps (us) take action.” The Star’s coverage of our changing climate (and the response to it) is equally important to all Canadians, including those who may not be able to afford subscription fees.
Toronto Star founder Joseph Atkinson was a pioneering crusader for social and economic justice. If he were alive today, he would understand that our society faces an existential crisis as a result of climate change.
I urge you to live up to the principles of your founder by making your climate coverage freely available to everyone. It’s a small step that will send a bold message. Natalie Brown, Toronto
