Here are five new books by fathers and for fathers (and, of course, other family members) to celebrate Father’s Day.

The Life of Dad: Reflections on Fatherhood from Today’s Leaders, Icons, and Legendary Dads, Jon Finkel and Art Eddy

This guide to dadhood, an offshoot of The Life of Dad

Show podcast, includes wisdom from such famous fathers as actor Mark Hamill, basketball’s Shaquille O’Neal, actor Ice Cube and more. There are three sections: “Tools” addresses core dad values (mindset, character); “Talk” offers practical advice (work-life balance, dealing with challenges); “Talents” includes hanging with your kid (bake cookies, shoot hoops). Jon Finkel is the father of Reese and Grant. Art Eddy is the father of Lily and Jordan.

The Visual MBA, Jason Barron

The author, a designer, enrolled in the MBA program at the Marriott School of Business at Brigham Young University. He endured 516 class hours over 86 days and did a ton of assignments. And throughout, he made “sketchnotes,” quick data-steeped illustrations annotated with the key words from the lesson, be it about leadership, finances, entrepreneurship or accounting. James Barron is the father of Jackie, Josh, Jonah, Josie and Junie.

Mr. Know-It-All: The Tarnished Wisdom of a Filth Elder, John Waters

John Waters — cult film director, maker of mischief, master of perversity — would be the first to tell you that over his 73 years he has developed strong opinions on pretty much everything — and in this book he offers his thoughts on success, serenity, death and more. Open the book at any page and you will find a sentence that will make you smile. Small doses of this book are recommended (it’s easy to overdose on cleverness). The closest John Walters has come to fatherhood is a doll named Bill.

Bitcoin Billionaires: A True Story of Genius, Betrayal, and Redemption, Ben Mezrich

Ben Mezrich wrote The Accidental Bil

lionaires, the basis for 2010’s The Social Network, which memorably featured Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, the wealthy twins who sued Mark Zuckerberg, alleging he stole their idea for the juggernaut that became Facebook. Mezrich’s new book picks up in the years after, when the Winklevosses bet that Bitcoin would be the Facebook of currency. The story unfolds at cinematic speed — plus, you’ll come away with a deeper understanding of digital dough. Ben Mezrich is the father of Asher.

The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook: Expert Advice for Extreme Situations, Joshua Pivan and David Borgenicht

The first edition of this guide was a hit in 1999, spawning a host of spinoffs. This updated handbook marks the 20th anniversary. It includes much of the original content plus 20 entries for modern times, including how to survive a flaming cellphone, how to defeat a cyberbully, how to identify fake news and what to do if your smart house locks you out. Joshua Pivan is the father of Alex and Lena. David Borgenicht is the father of Sophie and Max.
