Bichette/Nunez Jays shortstop Bo Bichette had made a seamless transition to the big leagues, going 6-for-13 with a solo home run, a double and a 1.269 OPS in his debut series against the Royals. Orioles DH Renato Nunez is looking to carry a hot July into August, after he hit .304 with seven home runs and 19 RBIs.

Thornton will be activated before his start on Thursday after 10 days on the injured list because of right elbow inflammation … Toronto had yet to announce who will fill Aaron Sanchez’s spot in the rotation after Wednesday’s trade to Houston … Former Jays outfielder Dwight Smith Jr. was placed on the injured list with a left calf strain … The Jays had three open spots to fill on their 25-man roster and two on the 40-man after trading Sanchez, Joe Biagini and Daniel Hudson.
