Amother and her son are dead following a Friday morning stabbing in a residential Brampton neighbourhood, police say, and her husband died by suicide on Hwy. 410.

Peel police received reports of two people stabbed at a home on Josephine Court, a residential cul-de-sac, near Williams Pkwy. and Jordan Blvd., shortly before 6 a.m.

The 53-year-old mother of four was found dead in the home, and her13-yearold son died in hospital, according to police.

Soon after, the 51-year-old husband and father was found dead on the southbound lanes of Hwy. 410 at Williams Pkwy., police say.

The 911 call came from someone inside the residence, police say.

Police weren’t releasing the names of those involved to respect the privacy of the remaining children.

“This is a very tragic incident, the circumstances surrounding it, there were obviously family members who are still having to deal with all of this, which is obviously why we have not and are not releasing the names of the individuals

involved,” Peel police Const. Danny Marttini told reporters at the scene.

“It is at (their) request, because of the trauma going on around this situation.”

According to property records, the home is owned by Roberto and Maria Lisa Gorospe, who purchased it in 2002.

Three neighbours at the scene said the woman who lives at the home goes by Lisa, and that she is a realtor.

Those neighbours identified her in a photo posted to Lisa Gorospe’s Instagram account, in which a couple appear to be on vacation in California.

Several neighbours said the couple had four children, three daughters, all older than 15, and a son, Christian, around 13. Marttini said two of the children were adults.

Police are not looking for any suspects and said there is no threat to public safety.

Investigators could be seen canvassing the neighbourhood around the Josephine Court house, the middle unit in a modest triplex.

The street had been cordoned off since Friday morning, as officers knocked on neighbours’ doors to ask questions.

A grey minivan could be seen parked in the home’s driveway.

“It’s very sad. It’s pretty surreal right now,” said neighbour Cheyenne Barriault, 20, who lives just a couple of houses down.

“Very shocking to wake up to something like this in our own neighbourhood. I’ve never seen police here before,” Barriault said.

Neighbours said the family at the house had lived there for more than 15 years.

Photos taken at the scene of the highway incident show police investigating a body beneath a bridge on a highway overpass.

The victims of the stabbing are Peel Region’s 13th and 14th homicides of the year.

“Now these kids are left alone with no parents. How sad,” said Wesley Stackhouse, whose house is about 50 metres from where the family lives.
