Bills’ Morse expects to take the field

-

Buffalo Bills centre Mitch Morse is confident he is ready to play after consulting with numerous specialists while recovering from his fourth documented concussion.

Morse said he was cleared to play upon being released from the NFL’s concussion protocol late last week. He missed nearly five weeks in after being accidentally kneed in the head by a teammate during Buffalo’s first padded session of training camp on July 27.

Morse called it a freak accident and says he has plenty of catching up to do in being ready for Buffalo’s season opener at the New York Jets on Sunday.

Morse was Buffalo’s highestpriced free-agent addition as the Bills overhauled their offensive line.

The Bills added quarterback Davis Webb to their practice squad Monday, two days after the former third-round draft pick was cut by the New York Jets.

COLTS: Brian Hoyer is getting another chance to extend his NFL career.

Just two days after being released by the New England Patriots, the Indianapolis Colts signed the 33-year-old to be their No. 2 quarterback. ESPN reported it was a three-year deal worth $12 million (U.S.).

Hoyer will back up Jacoby Brissett, who became the starter when Andrew Luck abruptly retired Aug. 24.

RAIDERS: The Oakland Raiders have placed third-string quarterback Nathan Peterman on injured reserve with an elbow injury.

Peterman had a strong preseason for the Raiders after the former fifth-round pick flamed out in Buffalo. Peterman completed 60 of 84 passes for 475 yards, three TDs and no interceptions for a 97.1 rating.
