Canadian men will host last-gasp event

The Canadian men’s basketball team will host an Olympic qualifying tournament in Victoria in June. Canada must win the six-team tournament, June 2328, to earn a berth. The draw will be Nov. 27. Seven countries qualified for Tokyo at the FIBA World Cup in China. The Canadian team was without most of its stars — Sacramento’s Cory Joseph and Orlando’s Kham Birch were their only NBA payers — and finished 21st.
