Moore, MacNeill anchor new cop series

- Debra Yeo

A “Baroness von Sketch” star and an “Orange Is the New Black” inmate will star as female detectives of a certain age in a new show from CBC and NBCUniversal International Studios.

“Lady Dicks” will star Nova Scotian Meredith MacNeill and Tennessee native Adrienne C. Moore, who played Cindy on “OITNB,” in what’s described as “a fun and honest portrayal of two radically different female detectives in their early 40s.”

The pair will play a guns and gangs detective and a narcotics detective, respectively, who “drive one another utterly insane.” Two women with notable track records in the Canadian TV industry are behind the show: Tassi e Cameron (“Rookie Blue,” “Mary Kills People”) and Sherry White (“The Catch,” “Little Dog”).

“After years of friendship and working together, we’re in a great place to dig into a female buddy cop show,” White said in a CBC news release.

The series will begin shooting in Ontario this spring. It will air on CBC and be distributed globally by NBCUniversal.
