- Debra Yeo

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Soulpepper Theatre Company had some good news: the cast recording of its original musical “Rose” has been honoured by the New York Festivals Radio Awards.

Gregory J. Sinclair’s recording of “Rose,” created by company member Sarah Wilson and music director Mike Ross, won the gold medal for Best Children’s Audio Book.

“In this moment, where we are thinking about how we can connect our communities through stories, I am so appreciative that our cast recording of ‘Rose’ is out there to inspire and entertain everyone from age 5 to105 in their homes,” said Weyni Mengesha, artistic director of Soulpepper Theatre Company.

“Rose,” about a young girl’s journey to find herself, is based on Gertrude Stein’s 1939 book “The World Is Round.” The cast recording is available at Spotify and iTunes.
