At least two dead in Brampton fire

Peel police say two people are dead after a house fire in Brampton late Thursday night. Police got the call at around 10:40 p.m., reporting a fire in the area of Queen Street West and Main Street South. At around midnight, they wrote on Twitter that an evacuation of the house was underway. Half an hour later, police confirmed that two people were dead and that the fire was still “active.” Const. Heather Cannon told the Star that the cause of the fire has yet to be determined. Investigat­ors will examine the scene once it has been extinguish­ed. Police have closed down Queen Street West from Elizabeth Street to Mill Street.
