Parkinson’s disease is the fastest-growing brain disease in the world. Every day 25 Canadian lives are uprooted by four words: “You have Parkinson’s disease.” But what does that really mean?

Well, it means different things for different people. People just like you. Because Parkinson’s touches almost every aspect of daily life including movement, mood, speech, sense of smell, eating, drinking, sleeping, and the ability to think and process informatio­n.

Each person experience­s Parkinson’s differentl­y — but it always gets worse over time. It robs people of their independen­ce through increased disability and, ultimately, premature death. Andthis is hard to grasp because we just can’t predict what symptoms you may experience, or whenthings will change for you. Whatwecand­oisarmyouw­ith facts andsupport you to live the best life possible with Parkinson’s.

We won’t fool you; there will be bad days. But there’ll be good ones, too. And we’ll help you and your family overcome the many obstacles and challenges. Through access to excellent care and treatment options, which Parkinson Canada advocates for, and funding research that unlocks the mysteries of Parkinson’s disease, together we’ll find hope for your future.
