Bridge to Toronto Island absolutely unnecessary
Re Toronto Islands reopening is a cause for celebration. Getting there will not be, June 27
Normally, I agree with everything Shawn Micallef recommends; his advice on walking around the city and finding ‘off the beaten track spots’ is wonderful. However, when he suggests a bridge to the Toronto Island, I do not agree.
What makes the Toronto Island special is that it requires effort to get there and is not just a place to park your car. People need a place to go where they feel they are getting away from all the noise and concrete of the city.
So rather, why not improve the ferry service and make more places along the lake better known. Better yet — clean up the areas around the city so it is safer to swim.
Please, let’s preserve Toronto Island as it is.
