Six fun eye makeup looks to wear with a mask
As more and more parts of the world have made masks mandatory in public places, the beauty industry has witnessed a boom in eye makeup sales. Everything from false lashes and mascara to brow products is on the rise. It seems that with half our face covered up, we’re looking to enhance what little is left on display. So to help you take your eye makeup game to the next level, we gathered six super-easy-to-recreate looks to try now.
Pastel shadow
With f all around the corner, milk those l ast drops of summer with pretty pastel lids. From lilac and periwinkle to butter yellow and baby pink, pastels of all kinds were spotted on the spring/ summer runways. Simply swipe your shade of choice from your lashes to right above your crease — no blending required. Fenty Beauty Snap Shadows Mix & Match Eyeshadow Palette in Pastel Frost, $33, sephora.ca
Doll lashes
In the absence of lash extensions, adopt a “more is more” mascara motto and pile on the coats as you please. Adding a mod, Twiggy-esque flair, clumps should be embraced, not feared, so go ahead and apply some more for good measure. Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Lashes Mascara, $36, lancome.ca
Copper shadow Since sadly no one can see that lovely cream bronzer you swirled on your cheeks, give your lids the sun-kissed treatment instead. Copper is genius for making all eyes sparkle, pulling out flecks of gold in brown irises and intensifying blue and green eyes. For a highshine finish, reach for a liquid formula. Giorgio Armani Eye Tint Liquid Eyeshadow in Fusion, $39, armani-beauty.ca
Neon liner
If you’ve got a drawer full of vibrant lipsticks but only one sad eye pencil (it’s probably black or brown and who knows how old), this might be a good time to play with colour on your eyes. A slick of neon liner is as quick to apply as a bold lip and packs just as much of a punch.
NYX Cosmetics Vivid Brights Liner in Vivid Envy, $10, nyxcosmetics.ca
Extended cat-eye
There’s a reason a feline flick never goes out of style. For starters, it creates a nifty optical illusion, lifting the eye up and making you look more awake. Then there’s the retro appeal, recalling iconic bombshells like Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren. For a modern spin, keep your line straight instead of curving it and pull it all the way to your temples. Bourjois Liner Pinceau Eyeliner, $21, shoppersdrugmart.ca
Soft smoky eye
Not all smoky eyes call for six-inch heels and a gin and tonic. Take this pareddown look from the Brandon
Maxwell show for example: a bit of smudged liner along the top lashes with a wash of taupe shadow over the lids. It’s still smouldering and mysterious, but feels totally right with a pair of jeans. Morphe 9W Smoke & Shadow Artistry Palette, $16, sephora.ca
