Police use of knuckle-plated gloves should be banned

-

Re Ottawa constable cleared in death of mentally ill man,

Oct. 21 Given the police constable caused injuries to Abdirahman Abdi during an arrest by delivering heavy blows using police-supplied re-enforced knuckle-plated gloves, why isn’t the use of these types of lethal type gloves made known?

I was sickened when they showed on TV these types of gloves were used to subdue a mentally disturbed man, and all taking place in our capital city of Ottawa where our supposed democratic and humane system is upheld for the world to witness. The use of this type of weapon by police is barbaric and should be banned. Dorothy Low, Richmond Hill
