‘Come From Away’ goes to Australia

“Come From Away” is coming back to the stage — in Australia. Sankoff, about how people in Gander and other small Newfoundland communities welcomed 7,000 air passengers grounded by the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, has been a hit with audiences on Broadway, London’s West End, on tour in North America and in Toronto, where it was in its third year when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. It has won a Tony Award, four Olivier Awards and numerous other prizes, and was the most successful production in the 91-year history of Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre after opening there in July 2019.
