Trailer Park Boys get graphic
Ricky, Julian and Bubbles, a.k.a. the Trailer Park Boys, are boozing, smoking and swearing their way into a new medium.
A series of “Trailer Park Boys” comics are launching in the spring, and the Boys and publisher Devil’s Due Comics promise “as much debauchery and drunken antics” as the TV series, which recently launched its 13th season on the Swearnet comedy network. The first 12 seasons plus an animated series can be seen on Netflix. And a podcast, “Park After Dark,” airs weekly.
Created by Mike Clattenburg and released in 2001, the mockumentary series features petty criminals Ricky (Robb Wells), Julian (John Paul Tremblay) and Bubbles (Mike Smith), who drink, grow weed and scheme, usually disastrously, in the fictional Sunnyvale Trailer Park in Dartmouth, N.S.
Devil’s Due founder Josh Blaylock, whose imprint has published irreverent content like “Family Guy” and “Mercy Sparx,” called “Trailer Park Boys” “the perfect fit for us.”
The series will begin with a preview book in the spring followed by a combination of special edition anthologies, oneshots and miniseries comics in the fall. There are also plans to hold live events around the launch, pandemic permitting. Debra Yeo
