Premier and crew have some nerve playing the blame game

- Sophie Tanel, Vaughan

Re Ford, Trudeau wage war of deflection, Cohn, May 8 If Doug Ford had spent all of the COVID-19 benefits package Trudeau issued him at the beginning of the pandemic, instead of, as the Star has often reported, stashing away the majority of Ontario’s public monies, the horrific “senior-cide” would never have been so devastatingly widespread.

Surely, many in his caucus knew these funds weren’t being used to buy needed supplies or for the hiring of more aides because every Ontarian knew there was more than enough issued to cover these expenditures.

Ford should have heeded epidemiologist Dr. Colin Furness and our front-line doctors, who constantly told the premier what should have been done from the onset, but he arrogantly chose to listen to his “yes, sir, you’re right, sir” associates, who continuously played down the severity of the pandemic.
